Well the season has now ended and I look back to find myself surprised at how much I personally have enjoyed being involved with the team. We have achieved what we set out
to do, we have built a team of happy wee boys enjoying their football. We have played an inclusive game where it is more important that all the boys enjoy their games, rather than winning the
league. It is good to win matches but for boys under 8 years old, it is not the be all and end all.
We have played teams that are quite clearly driven, not just by talented players but also by their coaches to win. Whilst there is nothing wrong with this, our view is that
there is plenty time for more competition, when the boys are older. In terms of performance the boys play with heart and soul really showing their enthusiasm to all, parents and coaches a like.
This makes it a real pleasure to watch the team play. This is what football is all about, young boys learning the importance of sport, teamwork and fair play. We will continue with this
inclusive approach for next season and hopefully improve on this years league positions in the seven a side competition. My sincere thanks to Steve, Stuart and all the parents who have helped to
make the season the success it has been. |
