Sunday 9th September 2007 Merley Allendale 3
Broadstone Colts 1
What a great start to the new season with a home victory. The
game kicked-off with only ten boys, including our new recruit
Richard Green. The boys went out fighting and played some great team
football. Just ten minutes into the game and Merley went 1-0 down.
Despite their opponents goal they kept their heads up and challenged
every ball. Midway through the first half Dean Donovan threw the
ball to Daniel Hughes who produced our first goal, giving a level
score of 1-1. With just 5 minutes remaining until the end of the
first half, our last season’s top goal scorer, Kieran Foley, scored
his first goal of the season. ½ time score 2-1 to Merley.
The boys began the second half knowing that there were no available
subs. They continued to play well and challenged every move of the
opposing team, who were desperate for another goal. William Bugden
our goalkeeper made some brilliant saves helping to maintain our
score. Our third and final goal came midway through the second half
from Kieran Foley again.
This was a great game to watch by all. Well done to all the boys for
a well fought victory.

Sunday 16th September 2007 Wimborne Town Phoenix 2 Merley
Allendale 6
With the home team kicking off the Merley boys soon got the game
under control by playing some great football between them all.
Within the first 15 minutes of the game Dean Donovan put Merley 1-0
up. The boys soon domineered the game with Dean soon scoring his
second goal from a great shot into the top corner, producing a 2-0
score. Nearing the end of the first half the home team scored their
first goal. Daniel Hughes then proceeded to cross the ball onto our
new signing, Ronnie Young, who scored his first goal on his debut
game for the club. Half time score 3-1.
The second half the boys had to kick up-hill and
had the wind in their faces. With a combination of determination and
skill from the boys Kieran Foley went to score the fourth goal from
a cross from Daniel Hughes. Soon after Wimborne pulled one back
giving a score of 4-2. With just 5 minutes until the final whistle,
Kieran goes through for goal no. 5. Within the last minute of the
game Chris Goldsmith received the ball into the middle of the field,
brought it down and with a great shot on goal from 20 yards, scored
goal no. 6.
Another brilliant result boys. Superb playing,
keep up the good work.

Sunday 23rd September 2007 Merley Allendale 3 Poole Town
Colts 1
This was our second home game of the season, at our new home ground.
The Merley boys kicked off and the game got underway. Very soon the boys
came up against a team who they discovered were stronger in mid-field
than last season. Some great one-to-one passing was played between our
boys and within 10 minutes our first goal came. This was a result from
Kieran Foley setting-up Dean Donovan from just outside the 18 yard box,
with a well struck shot goal. Only 5 minutes later, the visiting team
fought back to level the score. Half time score 1-1.
The second half began and the boys continued to
play well with Daniel Hughes hitting the bar. A corner kick by Dean,
resulted in Omar Bejjada receiving the ball and slotting in goal number
2 for the team. The boys continued to fight for every ball and with
their spirits high William Bugden made some crucial saves. Another
corner kick came from Dean which was received by our new signing Ronnie
Young who went on to score our 3rd and final goal.

Sunday 30th September 2007 Hamworthy United 6
Merley Allendale 4
This was to be our first defeat of the season, against a team who
beat us in the league last season. The game began with the home
team soon showing they were the stronger of the two teams, scoring 2
goals, within ten minutes. With end to end football being played by
both sides the boys knew they were in for a long, tough game. Soon
after Merley came back with Dean Donovan passing the ball through to
Kieran Foley who slotted our first. Three further goals were scored
by our opponents, but with just 3 minutes until the end of the first
half Ronnie Young scored our second goal. Half time score 5-2.
During the second half of the game, the Merley
boys “woke up” and started to play some better football. Kieran
Foley went on to score the third goal and then Hamworthy scored
their sixth. With just 5 minutes until the end Dean scored our
fourth and final goal of the game. Final score 6-4. “Heads-up
boys”, we can bounce back!!

Sunday 14th October 2007 Merley Allendale 3
Sherborne Town 1
This match, we were to play against a team who
had moved down a division this season. The visiting team kicked off and
very soon the boys got the “grit between their teeth” and started to
produce some good football between them. Within ten minutes Merley were
ahead with a superb run down the right and cutting inside around the
visitors defence, Ronnie Young scored our first goal. Sherborne soon
came back to level the score 1-1. End to end football by both teams and
with only 10 minutes until half-time, William Bugden, pulled off a great
save and kept the visitors at bay. Ronnie then took another sprint down
the right to cross the ball into the path of Kieran Foley who put in our
second goal. Half time score 2-1.
During the second half the boys found it more of
a challenge with most of the play in the middle of the park. The boys
kept on fighting for every ball and with the Merley defence keeping
their guard up, this eventually paid off with Chris Goldsmith going
through to score our third goal.
Well done boys, a great team effort. Final score 3-1.

Okeford United 2
The team we were to play had recently moved down
a division and we hadn’t played against for a couple of seasons. The
weather was miserable but despite this the game got underway with good
parental support on the side-lines.
Within the first minute of the game, Dean Donovan
took a throw-in onto
Chris Goldsmith’s, head, to put Kieran Foley through for our first goal.
Due to the weather conditions, both teams tried to play some good
football. Seven minutes into the game Ronnie Young took a run down the
right and slotted in goal no. 2. With the wind blowing and the rain
pouring down, our defence concentration began to lapse allowing the
visitors to pull a goal back, giving a half-time score of 2-1.
During the second half, both teams continued to
struggle on against the weather and yet again our defence allowed
another goal from the visitors, giving an equalizing score of
2-2. This was to be the final result, which in fairness to both teams
was deserved.

Sunday 4th November 2007 Dexter Sports 2
Merley Allendale 1 Dorset Cup Round 2
When this fixture was first announced I knew it was going
to be a challenge for the boys as our opponents are in the Bournemouth
League, Division 1. Despite this our boys started off on the front foot
for the first twenty minutes, then the home side broke our defence and
scored their first goal. All credit to the boys they kept their heads up
and continued to fight for every ball. With just 5 minutes left until
half time, Dexter’s netted their second. Half time score 2-0.
With a few changes in mid-field the second half
started with the boys playing full of determination and skill producing
some of the best football they have probably ever played. Within the
first five minutes Omar Bejjada took a long range shot only missing a
goal due to the goal bar. The boys continued to produce some great
football and finally saw their way through with Dean Donovan putting
Kieran Foley through on goal give a score of 2-1. The whole team effort
kept the home team’s score to a minimum giving a final score of 2-1.
Well done boys, what a great game to watch and an
outstanding performance during the second half. M.O.M. - Nayim

The boys started this game with positive attitudes and
soon after kick off, the Merley boys had the game under way with some
great ball control. The boys played well producing some great team
football. Just 20 minutes into the game Dean Donovan set-up Kieran Foley
with the first of his goals of the game. Just 5 minutes later and Kieran
scored our second goal. With all their determination and skill the
Merley boys were turning the home side “inside out”. With just one
minute before half-time Ronnie Young went through the home side defence
and slotted in goal number 3. The ½ time score was 3-0.
During the second half the boys continued to play
well and had so many shots on goal the final score could have been even
higher. Dean Donovan went on to score goal number 4 with William Bugden,
goalkeeper, maintaining a clean sheet for our side. With only ten
minutes remaining, Dean set up Kieran Foley for his hat-trick of the
game.

We arrived at this away game with the bare minimum of 11
players. Within a minute from kick-off the boys hit the cross bar giving
the game an exciting start. Very quickly the boys soon got the bit
between their teeth and played some great football.
25 minutes into the game our first goal came as a
result of Chris’ Goldsmith hitting the cross bar, the ball falling into
the feet of Omar Bejjada, who was quick to score. The team continued to
play well together and this soon paid off with Daniel Hughes scoring
from a close range volley. Half time score 2-0.
During the second half of the game the boys found it
more challenging especially as they were playing up hill. Not long after
our opponents scored their first goal. The boys had to dig deep and
tried to keep the game under control. Ronnie Young produced our 3rd goal
as a result of running down the right hand side with determination and
success. Our opposition soon came back fighting by scoring their second
goal, but all credit to the boys they kept fighting for every ball and
they were rewarded with goal no. 4 from Ronnie Young from a well struck
shot. With just 2 minutes to the final whistle (even if it was blown
after the 39th minute!) the home side scored their third and final goal.

This was our last match of the year, 2007. The home side
kicked off and our boys soon established themselves as the stronger of
the two teams. Ten minutes into the game and our opponents put the ball
into the back of their own net! 1-0 up. During the first half, 90% of
the play was in the opponents half. 20 minutes into the game Kieran
Foley goes through on goal and gets brought down inside the box. A
penalty was awarded with Ronnie Young stepping up and scoring from the
spot. The home side fought back from a close range shot, giving a 2-1
score. With just 5 minutes until half time Ronnie Young goes through to
score goal no. 3. Half time score 3-1.
With the boys kicking up hill and finding the
game more of a challenge, they played with determination to keep the
home side at bay. Within 10 minutes the home side found their second
goal and with just 5 minutes until the final whistle, the home side
found their third and equalising goal from a free kick on the 18 yard
box. M.O.M. - Nayim Bejjada

What a great start to the New Year for the boys
with a win against our local rivals. The state of the pitch had a
lot to be desired, but the boys soon got down to some great play
with superb passing. Within 3 minutes into the game, Ronnie Young
made a run down the right and crossed the ball into the path of
Kieran Foley who scored from close range. Just five minutes later
Wimborne Town were awarded a penalty to score their equalizing goal.
Our boys continued to fight with some continued great passing
between themselves from one end to the other. Kieran threads the
ball through to Dean Donovan who scored our 2nd goal. Half time
score 2-1.
Second half, with our boys playing down-hill, many
opportunities to score more goals were unluckily missed. The ball
just wouldn’t go in. Mid-way through from a corner kick from Chris
Goldsmith, onto the head of Chris Rimmer our 3rd and final goal of
the match was scored.

This was to be our first home defeat of the season,
although the game was not played on our home ground due to poor
pitch conditions. Within 5 minutes of kick off the away side scored
their first goal. They played well despite our boys putting in some
great effort and always just seemed to be one step ahead of us. By
half time the score was 4-0.
During the second half our boys continued to persevere
but just couldn’t finish. Half way through this half our opponents
scored their fifth and final goal of the game. Final score 5-0.

Sherborne Town have had, only one defeat this season, this was
against us MAYFC and we were hoping to come away with a similar
result. The home team kicked off and the game soon got underway.
The Merley boys very quickly had the game under control and not long
after Omar Bejjada shot on goal which deflected off an opposing
player, resulting in our first goal being scored.
Nearing the end of the first half the home side equalized but our
boys continued to play with determination and effort. Half time
score 1-1.
The second half of the game continued to produce some good
football from both teams. Our second and final goal came as a result
of a Chris Goldsmith long-range shot from 20 yards into the top
corner. The home side continued to fight back, but despite their
efforts our boys defence kept them at bay. Final score 1-2.

The game got underway with the home side kicking off.
The Merley boys found the run of play going against them when the
home side scored their first goal within 15 minutes. Merley fought
back with some good passing and Kieran Foley soon produced an
equalising goal. Half time score 1-1.
During the second half, the boys went out and began to
fight for every opportunity, to gain control of the ball. With shot
after shot on goal we just couldn’t finish. With a mistake from our
defence the home side went through to score their second goal. Then
at last our boys got down to some great football with some superb
passing. As a result of a corner kick Chris Goldsmith managed to
float the ball in, onto Chris Rimmer’s head that scored our
equalising goal. With just 5 minutes until the final whistle Kieran
Foley slotted in our third goal. With our defence continuing to
keep the home side at bay, Daniel Hughes took a run down the left
side of the pitch only to be brought down, inside the box. We were
awarded a penalty kick which Chris Goldsmith took, to score our
fourth and final goal of the match. Final score 2-4.

This was our first meeting of the season with this
team. The Merley boys started off well with some great passing
between themselves. The home side were on the defence and our boys
kept the pressure on. With Daniel Hughes in left mid-field and
Ronnie Young on the right of mid-field, making all the runs down the
side lines, our first goal was soon scored by Chris Goldsmith. The
Merley boys continued to attack during the first half ensuring our
goalkeeper William Bugden had a quiet time. Within twenty minutes of
the game Daniel Hughes slots in goal number 2. Half time score 0-2.
Second half, much the same flow of play between
both sides up until the home side had a corner kick awarded to them.
With a short corner taken and with a scramble in the goal mouth the
ball finished in the back of the net. Final score 1-2.

Once our opponents found our venue, the game eventually
got underway. With the visiting team kicking off, our boys soon
settled into the game and produced some good passing. Within 5
minutes of the game Kieran went through on goal and put it around
the post. The boys continued to keep up their attack with shot after
shot on goal, but just never quite finishing. William Bugden our
goalkeeper was left with little to do. Eventually Ronnie Young found
the back of the net to produce a half time score of 1-0.
The second half was to be a complete contrast. With
Kieran Foley continuing to attack, the goals at long last started to
flood in and Kieran was to soon score the first goal in this half.
Just 5 minutes later Ronnie went on to score his second goal of the
game. Our fourth goal was a result of the ball being crossed in from
Chris Goldsmith into the path of Dean Donovan who scored. Soon
after, Chris Goldsmith, our Captain, went onto score goal number 5.
Our 6th goal came from Dean Donovan, who placed the ball into the
corner of the net. Our 7th and final goal came from Ronnie Young who
scored a hat-trick.

Sunday 4th May 2008 Merley Allendale 3
Blandford Youth Barbarians 3
This was our last game of the season. We had the bare 11
players and the game soon got underway with the visiting team
kicking off. The Merley boys soon got the game under their
control. After just 20 minutes Ronnie Young puts Dean Donovan
through on goal, with a low level shot into the bottom corner. 5
minutes later our opponents pull one back to level the score. Half
time score 1-1.
The second half began with some good football being
played by the whole team. With determination and ball control
Ronnie Young went on to score our second goal as a result of another
low level shot. Then the visitors went through the middle of the
park, catching some of our boys by surprise and levelled the score
up 2-2. With just 5 minutes until the final whistle, the Merley
boys were awarded a penalty. Romulus Lam stepped up to take the
penalty and scored his first ever goal for Merley. Just 2 minutes
our opponents scored their third and final score. Final score 3-3.
M.O.M. Romulus Lam.
Managers Note
I would like to say on behalf of myself and the boys,
thank you to John Groves for his time in coaching the team.
Special thanks as well to John Hughes our Social Rep. and Clare
Dyett our Parent Rep. A big thank you to Phillip Pike, our own Team
Photographer, who has produced some superb photo’s for us all during
this season.
The support from all the parents and families during
this season has made it a pleasure to manage the team.
