2005/2006 season – here we go again, another season
a bigger pitch and enormous goals!
Firstly I would like to take this opportunity of welcoming 5 new players
to our team. Alex Kelly signed from Wimborne Town Boys, Harry Dyer,
William Bugden, William Evans and finally a welcome return to Matthew Miles.
I hope that they and their parents will feel welcome within our team and
can support our team as often as possible.
This seasons sponsor, ITW DeVilbiss have kindly presented
the players with a brand new kit including tracksuits.

Lytchett Red Triangle 4
Our first game of the season was against Lytchett Red Triangle on
Sunday 11th. A great start to the season producing
a hard fought game, resulting in a 4-4 draw. Well done to all
the lads, a very good game played by all.
Goals: Daniel MK, Stephen Godfrey (2) and a penalty by Dean
Donovan.

Broadstone Colts 2
Second game of the season, started passing the ball around well,
going 1-0 up within 10 minutes as a result of Dean Donovan setting up
Alex Kelly for our first goal from a corner kick. Broadstone came
back levelling the score 1-1. Minutes later Callum Perry made
it 2-1. We had many chances but we just couldn’t finish.
Dean passed the ball again to Alex who found the back of the net once
again. Coming up to half-time Chris Goldsmith scored from a long
range shot. Half time score 4-1. Second half continued good
passing, unfortunately our opponents hit the post and we conceded another
goal. Great game lads, keep up the good team work. All in
all, a very well earnt 3 points.

2nd October 2005 Weymouth Colts 9 Merley Allendale
2
Going into the match knowing it was going to be tough for the boys,
they fought very hard for the first 15 minutes. Weymouth then
started to pass the ball around, with the first goal coming after catching
us on the break, then the second, third and fourth went in by half-time
producing a 4-0 score at half time.
The second half was much the same but Merley kept their heads up.
Weymouth scored the fifth. We got one back by an own goal.
10 minutes later Daniel Massieu-King scored the second. The 6th,
7th, 8th and 9th goal was then scored by them producing a final result
of 9-2.

9th October 2005 Wimborne Town Boys
3 Merley Allendale 1
This was a very disappointing performance by the whole team; against
a side which hadn’t won a match in the last 18 months. Within the first
15 minutes our boys were 2 nil down. They became totally despondent
and never regained their composure. During the second half a penalty
was awarded to us …. We missed! Merley had plenty of chances but just
couldn’t finish. Wimborne went on to score their third goal and eventually
in the last 10 minutes Harry Dyer scored for Merley.
M.O.M. - Stephen Godfrey
16th October 2005 Merley Allendale 1 Chickerell
Utd 3
Within the first 15 minutes Merley were 2 goals down. The boys played
some good football, passing well. Their heads stayed high and they tried
to fight back,
Dean Donovan coming very close with a great save by the goalkeeper.
Success at last, Stephen Godfrey went on to score a goal for Merley.
Unfortunately Chickerell went on to score their third goal in the last
ten minutes of the game.

3 Poole Borough Hornets 3
No match for the last 4 weeks, this game was long overdue for us
all. I knew it was going to be hard for the boys against a well
organised team, being second in the league. We started well, than
after 10 minutes we went 1 down. All credit to the boys they kept
their heads-up and kept on battling. 5 minutes later the Hornets
scored again. Not long after Merley’s Callum Perry scored for
the team, bringing cheers from the Merley crowd. Just before the
break the Hornets scored their third goal.
Starting the second half 3-1 down didn’t deter the boys and they
kept on battling. 5 minutes before the end Alex Kelly scored,
making it a more respectful 3-2. With only minutes to go the Merley
supporters really got behind the boys cheering them on, like never before!
With only 90 seconds to go, Jonathan Pike controlled the ball well and
then lobbed the goalkeeper to make the score 3-3. The pitch
went wild, players and supporters alike.
Just a note to the parents and supporters: “Many thanks
for your superb support and motivation for the boys during this game,
it really helped produce this result”.
M.O.M. - Chris Goldsmith
27th November 2005 Lytchett Red
Triangle 4 Merley Allendale 7
I am going to make this report short and sweet. The boys started
off kicking Up-hill on the pitch and found it hard! Despite this
they kept on closing the opposition down. 20 minutes into the
game the home-side scored a lucky goal off the post. Half-time
score 1-0 down.
The second half was superb. The boys found their feet and produced
some excellent passing turning the game and result around. Goal
after goal: 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 4-2, 5-2, 5-3, 6-3, 7-3 and then
7-4. FANTASTIC TEAM EFFORT BOYS. Well done.
Goals: Stephen Godfrey 3, Dean Donovan 2, Alex Kelly 2.

4th December 2005 Blandford United
6 Merley Allendale 3
This was a disappointing result coming after two very good performances
in the last two weeks. Unfortunately things were not going our
way losing two players through injury and illness before we started.
Having to make these changes to our defence did not help and by half
time with a little help from some very bad refereeing we were 4-0 down.
We were to improve in the second half after changes were made;
goals from Dean Donovan, Stephen Godfrey and Daniel Massieu-King brought
the score to 5-3 with Blandford looking very worried. Things could
have got even closer but again bad refereeing denied us a definite penalty.
Just before the final whistle, Blandford broke to make the final score
6-3.
M.O.M. - C. Stone
18th December 2005 Broadstone Colts
2 Merley Allendale 6
The boys went into this game knowing that they needed a good result.
The game started off slowly and then Broadstone broke leaving our defence
standing, 1-0 up. 10 minutes later the same again 2-0 down to
Merley. Eventually the boys started to play to their ability producing
some good passing. Then came our first goal by Alex Kelly.
Chris Rimmer then went on to score his very first goal for the team.
Half time score 2-2.
In the second half the boys played to win. The third goal
came from Stephen Godfrey, the fourth from Alex Kelly. The fifth
and sixth from Stephen and Alex again! Well done to all
the boys, a well deserved 3 points to our team.

3 Wimborne Town 3
This local derby game had been long awaited, with both teams being
as determined as each other to gain maximum points.
With a “soggy” pitch in front of them, Merley started off well with
good passing. Within ten minutes Stephen Godfrey produced the
first goal. Wimborne tried battling back but couldn’t break our
determined defence. Next came our second goal which resulted from
Callum Perry’s corner kick reflected by a Wimborne player, producing
an own goal. Before the end of the first half, Wimborne managed
to score 2 goals, giving a half-time score of 2-2.
The second half was played well by both teams with Wimborne soon producing
their third goal. During the last quarter of the game Merley refused
to be beaten and spent most of their time in the opponents half.
With only 2 minutes until full-time Daniel Massieu-King scored an equalising
goal to produce a final score of 3-3.
M.O.M. - Daniel Massieu-King
15th January 2006 Chickerell United
3 Merley Allendale 1
Playing against a team who were third from the top, the boys knew
that it was going to be a tough game. The first half produced
an equally well played game despite going one nil down and some great
saves by Merley’s stand-in goal keeper, Will Bugden.
The second half Merley went out fighting with some good passing.
Chickerell managed a second goal from a “tap-in”. Soon Merley
struggled to match Chickerell’s pace. 10 minutes until full-time
their number 3 goal was scored. Finally Merley produced a consolation
goal from Stephen Godfrey.
M.O.M. - Dean Donovan
22nd January 2006 Merley Allendale
2 Okeford United 6
The game started off well on our home ground, going up 1-0 after
just 10 minutes with a goal from Stephen Godfrey. 5 minutes later
Okeford broke away and levelled the score. From then on it seemed
to go all down hill. Alex Kelly scored a second goal, however
Okedford Utd walked away with a winning result of 6-2.
M.O.M. – William Bugden (well deserved after some great saves).
29th January 2006 Merley Allendale
2 Blandford United 8
The boys went into this game knowing that they needed the points.
It was not to be. By half time despite a goal from Callum Perry
we were 4-1 down. The boys played with determination and Will’
Bugden produced some good saves. After a second goal from Dean
Donovan, the final score was a disappointing 8-2.

5th February 2006 Merley Allendale
3 Dorchester Town 7
This game was going to be difficult before we even started.
The team we were to play had not lost a game all season and our team
only had 11 players with no subs, due to sickness. The boys knew
they were in for a tough game.
Within 5 minutes the boys were 1-0 down, despite fighting for
every ball and with some good passing between them all. Stephen
Godfrey then managed to pull one back giving a 1-1 score. Our
opponents then went on to score their second and third goal. As
if this wasn’t bad enough disaster struck with our goal-keeper having
to leave the pitch through illness. Down to 10 men! Despite
this the boys kept their heads up and continued fighting for every ball.
Half time score 4-1 down.
The boys went back on with their heads held high and stuck with
it. Merley were then awarded a penalty and Dean Donovan produced
a goal from the spot making it 5-2 . 15 minutes later Alex Kelly
tapped one in giving a final score of 3-7.
The result does not reflect the boy’s perseverance and determination
they maintained throughout the game. Well done to you all.
M.O.M. - Jonathan Pike
26th February 2006 Okeford United
2 Merley Allendale
Going into a game with nothing to lose, the whole team deserve
full credit for giving their best and handling the oppositions play.
The final score does not reflect the overall play and the way Merley
kept possession of the game by closing down every pass made by Okeford.
20 minutes into the game Okeford had a lucky break scoring an easy goal.
Half time score 1-0 down.
Second half, Merley’s boys went out fighting for every ball.
10 minutes into the second half Alex Kelly had a shot on goal which
deflected off an opponent player, producing a 1 - 1 score. Soon
after Stephan Godfrey was brought down in the box and was awarded a
penalty kick. Dean Donovan took the penalty but it was wide off
the post.
The boys kept their composure and continued passing the ball
around with Stephan Godfrey out pacing their defenders time and time
again. Merley just couldn’t find the back of the net. 5
minutes until the end of play Okeford had another lucky break, despite
Matt Miles saving the ball it rebounded onto an opponent who immediately
returned it into the net producing a final 2-1 score.
M.O.M. - Stephen Godfrey
5th March 2006 Poole Borough 3
Merley Allendale 2
Going into a game playing against a team placed second in
the league the boys knew it could be a difficult game. The beginning
of the game started off well with some good passing and within 5 minutes
Stephen Godfrey pulled away from the opposing defence putting M.A.Y.F.C.
1-0 up with a great strike at goal. 2 minutes later the ball was
put back into their 5 yard box with a flick by Chris Rimmer, of his
head, to make it 2-0 up. By half time Poole Borough fought back
producing a 2-2 score.
The boys went back on in the second half with determination.
Despite their high spirits Poole Borough scored their 3rd
and final goal. A great performance by the team, well done boys.
M.O.M. - Daniel Hughes
12th March 2006 Dorchester Town
Raiders 7 Merley Allendale 5
Our final game of the season and a long awaited one at that!
Playing against a team positioned at the top of the league and kicking
up-hill from the start, the boys went out fighting. By the end
of the first half we were 4-2 down but as determined as ever, after
goals Dean Donovan, one of which was a penalty.
The second half was superb with a further goal from Dean and
then Stephen Godfrey and Jonathan Pike. For a short time the score
was 5-5 and only in the last 5 minutes did our opponents score a further
2 goals, giving a final score of 7-5.
Despite the result this was a fantastic game enjoyed by players
and parents alike.
M.O.M. - Alex Kelly
